The Irgun (Etsel) was a military organization founded in Palestine in 1931. Its ideology was based on the teachings of Vladimir Jabotinsky, which stated that armed Jewish force was the prerequisite for a Jewish state and that every Jew had a right to enter Palestine. Its symbol was a hand holding a rifle over the map of present day Israel and Jordan with the motto "Raḳ kakh" ("Only thus"). This symbol is on most of the items in this collection.
